Just wondering what everyone else thought about it? Personally I think it blew the China ceremony away. Aside from the very ill conceived 40 years of music part, and yes maybe the creepy baby, and the Queen's speech which sounded like one of Young Mr Grace's (bonus cookie if you get that reference), and the fact they used the WORST James Bond ever (Craig) instead of the original (Connery), everything was excellent.

Oh, and whoever thought French was a good idea, especially being said before English (and I don't care that the president of the olympics is French) should...be thrown off the cliffs of Dover!

It was a great show. I also wondered why french was the first language used.

English speaking country should have English first.

As for young Mr Grace, He's not that young. I watched that show a lot.

The custom of using French is to insure the Ambassadors and national representatives were able to communicate...there were no telephones till later. All ambassadores learn French. So every game is opened in French no matter what the local language is. Makes it more 'official'

Hi again LOL well this is not about the opening sorry. But I see Canada is kicking arse again at the olympics LOL. If there was a event for driving 4x4's with gun racks in the back window, wearing bush shirts and drinking beer we would win hands down hehe 

I feel the whole Queen jumping from a heli was in bad taste.
The live bands/music were less than memorable, but Paul was good.
Parade of athletes/countries is always the worst part. PICK UP THE PACE!!! They're athletes, and should be able to walk faster. On the bright side and as a single guy, I'll have to admit there was some good looking women. YES!!!!

This is not a comment on the opening ceremony per se, but a comment on technology that can (and I believe will) change the whole idea of 'fairness and equality' of the games themselves.
