By the grace of God I was finally able to find a good job that'll put about $1400 a month in my pocket (as in after deductions and expenses), so after payday at the end of the month the first thing I'm thinking about getting is a Corsair H series cooler, namely the H60, for a couple of reasons. One is that this Delta fan is getting on my nerves extremely quickly, anything over 40% and it becomes audible over my HD 5970 (which says a lot). Second is this Xigmatek is getting a bit old, a couple of the topmost fins have come off over time, and it's possible that one of the heatpipes could be dry, as the last time I took it off for a good cleaning (a few weeks ago) there was some brown very foul smelling liquid on the CPU heatspreader. And lastly, I'd just like a little bit lower temps. Granted with near 26°C ambient temps I idle at 39°C and load anywhere between 48-55°C depending on the program and how threaded it is, I'd like to see it a touch lower at least, or even the same with much less noise. I don't use Intel so I don't have to worry about 60°C+ temps so I think the H80 and H100 are a bit overkill.
So, would it be possible if I just take off the fan which ships with it and attach it to my fan which came with my case? No big deal if I can't, I've got a couple of fan headers in that area of the motherboard for power, but it's just the fan controls are hardwired to the case (idiotic Antec) and I'd rather not have to cut them.
Ideally I'd just clamp it to my side panel but Antec uses a plastic clip mount instead of a screw mount for the panel (Antec really are idiots).
Or, even more ideally, use the stock exhaust as a pull and one that comes with it (until I replace it) as a push, but I'm not sure if the H60 can mount two fans
I remember something about the fans on the H series being higher static pressure than bog standard case fans. Something to do with having to push air through the fins on the rad. I know they are rated at around 74cfm. I went under the assumption that bigger is better and being as I could fit it I got the H100. Even though I have it working in a less than optimum way, I'm pulling hot air through it and out the top of the case, it still keeps me cool enough at 52°C max load.

Aye TLH, the CFM rating is purely a mathematical formula based on size of fan, thickness of fan, and speed of fan, so when you put something in front of it such as a radiator or dust grille the CFM rating can decrease dramatically, which is why you should always use 120x120x38 fans when possible, the extra 13mm thickness cranks that static pressure way up over a 120x120x25. The downside being that the 38mm fans are usually quite loud, like this Delta, on full blast it spins my exhausts backwards and is audible on the other side of the house.
