The only thing I need is a better mic & headphones. Otherwise, I'm happy with my self-built computer that gets 100 frames per second on minecraft.

If you want to appreciate your rig try the one that you were using 10 years ago. I just did. I thought I remember it being fast back then. Now it seems painfully slow.

So I am not sure exactly how it happened, but the upgrade bug has now bit me.  I am almost 100% sure to upgrade my 5770 to a 270x.  That one is not insane, but these next two certainly are...  I want to Upgrade my X-Fi Titanium Pro Fatal1ty to a ZxR (I mean wtf is wrong with me?)  and my HX750 to an AX860i (really?, just so I can play around with Corsair Link?...  QB needs some serious help!)

I really should be looking into replacing my 4x500GB Caviar Blacks with some 1TB Red's or RE's (oh great... more to add to the list)

HELP!

RAID0 with these puppies is also blindingly fast...  I don't think there is much difference between RAPID mode and RAID0

True...however you have twice as much storage capacity than in RAID 0 and 50% less chance of fail.

Uh...  not sure if you know anything about RAID0...  but 2x128 is 256...   LOL

And I am not worried about failure...  Maybe in the future when I get new SSD's, I may contemplate just getting one instead of two.

  2 x 128 is 128 in RAID 1

Very good point, but one could probably argue that a 1990 486DX clone running Word for DOS would probably be fine ... it's just when you try to stream a 4K movie on a Pentium II is where you'd run into trouble.

Bumping this thread a bit...

No, I don't think I'll be very happy with my rig. It's just...you always want more.

  1. I don't mind a third monitor (EyeFinity or MOAR work space!!)
  2. Another HD 7970 / R9-280X?

The thing that is bugging me right now is the overclocking I have on my FX-8350. 4.8GHz with 1.4V? There's got to be more in there!

I ordered a Swiftech H220 last month....too bad two of them has suffered from premature pump failure in the last 30 days. Yes. Two. Of. Them. Initial unit and the RMA replacement.

The retailer was going to send me a THIRD unit...and I simply just went...uhh, can I get Store Credit instead?

So...

  • Cooler Master Glacer 240L?
  • The new NZXT Kraken X61?
  • Corsair H100i?
  • Fractal's upcoming 360mm expandable AIO cooler?

Do you mean you bought one of those mice?  Just glancing over the website real quick, they look pretty nice to me.

I had an Eyefinity setup a couple years ago with three 23" ASUS monitors, and it was a fun experiment for a while, a lark.  I decided to just give up on it because too many games caused too much frustration trying to get it to work.  At least, that was my experience.

I'm okay with my single R9 280X at the moment.  It's enough to drive a 2560 x 1440 display with most games at high settings, but of course Crysis and Metro Last Light are the ones that intimidate it the most.
