I believe APU is (at least near) future for AMD, and that they should be more agressive with it.

I have a crazy idea and I wanna hear what other people think of it, so hit me guys

If I could Completely re-design the APU`s and Motherboards for them myself, here is what I would do: (this is completely going insane right here)

- I would first remove RAM and PCI-E sockets (altho I would leave only PCI for extra conectivity, read on for explanation)

- I would increase chip`s physical size by 30% (more space for much better APU performance)

- I would integrate GDDR5 Memmory Directly on the board

- MoBo prices would depend on amount of integrated RAM, connectivity features (amount of ports) and quailty of the MoBo components (VRM sections etc.), and APU prices would depend on different CPU+GPU configurations (same as today)

This would reflect in at least 100%-150% performace gain on every performance aspect and the production would cost about the same money... I belive this is the way to go but I wanna know what do you think about this guys, am I crazy or does this make some sense?

Well you can't get rid of RAM and PCIe because, well, GDDR is not SDRAM, and more things than just graphics cards use PCIe. Increasing the size of the chip would not necessarily translate to an increase in performance. AMD has considered incorporating GDDR onto the motherboard for APUs, but with AMD HSA's architecture, it does not make much sense.

I want to see a 8C/8T Vishera CPU with a 7870 as an APU. Well it would be on DDR-3 but still. Would be a beast if they used the 7970M style GPU. 80W GPU, 95W CPU , 200Wish Total .

I'd buy that.
