I've tried three kits of RAM, different brands, two 1866 and one 2133.
The first kit had errors and I RMA'd it but memtest86+ passed the others with flying colores. Neither of them will run cleanly above their default. For the 4GB Ballistix 1866, that's 1333. (!) For the 8GB Ripsaws it's 1600.
Right now I've got the Ripsaws @1866 w/relaxed timings and my video is still dropping out for 2-3 seconds at a time, once every ten minutes or so, on average.
I really want to run fast ram with the iGPU. Otherwise I've wasted my time and money locking myself into this cpu socket. This isn't what I payed for.
If I run the 2133 @2133, the blink gets much more frequent. It never happens in BIOS regardless of setting, and I haven't seen it happen running at the RAMs default speed. Yet.
Also AMD Overdrive didn't do a darn thing but cause a BSOD. Otherwise zip. Nada. Zilch.
Could the memery controller be bad? It's too late to return the A10 to the retailer, so what can I do if it is? How do I know it's not the mobo? (RAM tests the same in all slots, BTW.)
My hardware all supports CPU and RAM overclocking:
A10-5800k (supports 1866mhz!?)
ASRock FM2A85X Exreme 6 (supports 2400mhz)
Ballistix 4GB@1866/Ripsaws 8GB@2133
Corsair cx750 watt PS
Corsair h60 cooler.
This is really bugging me.
Thanks in advance.
