I would suggest you save up another $100 and get some higher end components, as well as the Corsair H60 for effective and very quiet cooling.

AMD FX-8350 w/ Corsair H105, ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Gen3/R2, 8GiB G.SKILL DDR3-2133, XFX HD 7970 GHz Edition, 1TB Samsung 850 Evo, 256GB OCZ Vector, Creative X-Fi Titanium w/ Creative Gigaworks S750, SeaSonic X750, Corsair C70, HP ZR2440w, Win 7 Ult Ed x64

Hello, I am about to get all of the parts to build my first PC. My current PC I am running on has a Zotac GeForce GT 520 PCI, 512 MB. Pentium 4 HT, 3.00GHz, and 1GB RAM. I have a (very) small budget of $300. What I have picked out is an AMD A8-3870K 3GHz Quad Core, Biostar A75MG Micro ATX MB, Corsair Vengance 4GB DDR3-1600, Seagate Barracuda 250 GB, Raidmax ATX-295WBP, and Coolmax 400W PSU ( ). Everything has free shipping, the total is $287. But that's not the reason I posted this.

What I really want to know is what would be a safe overclock for my A8-3870K with a stock cooler? Please, I know that it will not get very high,  and I am aware I need a better cooler. So please don't say anything about getting a new cooler. Also, if you found some better, cheaper parts I can get, please post them here.

A $30 Coolermaster Hyper 212 also gives some overclocking room. You will also need some good TIM (I usually use Arctic Silver 5 or MX4, but there are many other good ones).

Intel I7 3770K @ 4.5ghz, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Gigabyte HD7970 ghz edition, 4x4gb Kingston HyperX Beast 2133mhz, Seasonic Platinum 860, Samsung 840 Pro 256gb, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb, WD Black 1TB, WD Green 3TB+1.5TB, ASUS Xonar Essence ST, ASUS VE278Q, Windows 3.11
