Essentialy my computer got old, and now that l have the opportunity to buy a new one l have no idea what to choose isgust;, so l was wondering if someone could advise me. l am from chile but l want to buy the core parts in USA(cause of the price); that would be motherboard, processor, video card, and ram. l have already seen a few parts in newegg, but l dont know if they go well together or if thats the best place to get them.
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard $230
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDE00ZFBGRBOX $200
Video Card: ASUS EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5/V2 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity $180
Ram: no idea, but no more than $100
I am buying this pc for playing games, and l always been an intel user so l dont have much knowledge of AMD's.
I would also appreciate if you can tell me if this part gets to hot and if they requiere a lot of energy, maybe some recommendations of power supplies
Thanks ^^

intel i5 2500k seems to be the top choice for gaming CPUs. Combine it with a P67 mobo and you'll be fine.

l really liked the idea of buying an intel processor but nowdays ati cards seems to be better than nvidia, at least in price... and l dont want to mess whit amd processor and nvdia cards.
At least, thats what a friend told me, or is it that now it doesnt matter to use intel processor and mobo and ati cards?

That's a sweet motherboard, but I can't help but recommend picking up a more reasonably priced 890FX board and redirecting the savings toward a better video card. Personally, I've been unimpressed with the 6850 performance. That's why I returned it and got a 6950 instead. :-)
As far as the CPU, most games benefit more from high clock speeds, as opposed to more cores. I'd save some money, pick up an X4 955 along with a high quality heatsink, and overclock it. If you don't want to overclock, then get the fastest X4 available. 975 I think?
Don't skimp on the PSU. As a starting point of reference, Corsair and Seasonic make excellent units, but there are others as well. I don't have a scientific formula for you on how many watts to get, but you might as well think ahead and get something powerful enough to last through some upgrades. Personally, I wouldn't go any lower than a 750w, and a high quality one at that.
Memory should be fairly easy. 8GB of DDR3-1600 should be around the $100 mark, though maybe a little more if you're looking at low latency sticks (which I recommend).
Hope this helps.

Swap the mainboard to a GigaByte 890FXA based board ..
You can find better cases than those too .. CoolerMaster Storm Scout is better than those 2 IMHO ..

Because it is what has worked best for him, same reason I would recommend ASUS. Either one is good, though Gigabyte seems to be more finicky, just don't waste your time with Missing Some Intelligence.

Yup, no issues for the past several years with the Gigabyte boards I've chosen .. Went from EPOX to MSI to GigaByte, with a never again for the Might Suddenly Implode boards, nothing but trouble I had with the couple of MSIs I went through, so I went back to GigaByte.
This is rock solid, and can't fault it .. has handled everything I've thrown at it so far .. same as the others before it ...

i came across this thread just by searchin for a video card that can d0 30fps on a 1440x900 seems though most of the nvidia cards either runs hot . which meaning buget cards 100-200$ i mean yes i am running a zotac 450 and yes it does run warm but i think i will solve the heat issue by putting it into a better case with lots of cooling fans (Lancool K-63 case)

Did you know that your motherboard is out of date? ( Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P)

Not really that out-of-date .. I just swapped my 790FXT-UD5P for my current board .. The 790FXT still supports up to the X6 CPUs. One of the most solid boards I owned was that 790FXT .. I'd probably still be using it if a buddy hadn't fried his and made me an offer on the spot which I couldn't refuse ... OK, it doesn't do USB3/SATA6 but that's not a big deal really ..

It's his HD 3870s that are out of date more than anything, but at least they double as great heaters for the nice English winter eh?

What do u mean "out of date"? I still have this board, along with other "out of date" components, but they all serve their purpose well enough for me and my brothers so we can play our favorite games at hig-ish settings and connect anything we need to it (my brother connects his synthesizer and sampler to it). Anything you buy now will get "out of date" several months from now, so?

I wish, it's just started and they idle at 27*c / 41*c at present .. even under load they never top 70*c @ 70% fan speed LOL .. maybe I need me some FERMI core cards
Oh, we don't get "English" winters here, we leave that to that lot over the border LOL .. haha
