Hello Guys,

im new to this forum so yeah...

i received my xfx 6990 here
so i runned battlefield 3 MAXED on Firestorm or khargisland.
BTW , Fps never drops BELOW 60 , ATI drivers are 11.11.C

so sometimes it feels  like its micro stuttering? ( even when i hit 70 fps it feels like its a bit choppy ) and after a few second its gone and then again 'micro stuttering' .
ive also tryd other drivers to + reinstalled current drivers. but nothing has worked.

its something weird..

my specs are.

Intel i5 2500k 4.5Ghz
Asrocking An Extreme 6 P67 1.8Ver
2x4GB DDR3 1600Hz Corsair
850Watt Corsair
Corsair h80 Liquid cooled.
case Antec dark fleet f85.

The short answer seems to be....change your texture setting from Ultra to High.

I have the same thing happen. I dont know what that video lag is, but its not a micro-stutter, or atleast not what I used to have. Best thing you can do is go download driver sweeper. Uninstall your current drivers, reboot into safe mode running driver sweeper, choose AMD, and wack everything that got left. Then reboot and reinstall 11.11c.

I have 2 6870's in crossfire, and it runs around 40-50fps (which I think is low for 'high' settings), and i still get that weird pause every now and then. I would also get that msi afterburner program, and have it run showing the FPS on the game, so you can go into the video settings and see what tweaks you can do to get it high FPS.

You need to enable triple buffering when using vert sync.

see if this helps at all:

press the ` in the game, and do render.drawfps 1 (0 turns it off)

You will get a green FPS counter in the left screen. Play with your graphics setting a bit to see what happens. Its also beneficial to have the msi afterburner running so you can see a graph (history) of your fps for any kind of video drops.

CTRL + ALT + S will show you your current ping to the server if its just server lag.

From what I have read elsewhere, if you enable v-sync in BF3 it automatically turns on tripple buffering.

Its a pain in the you know what troubleshooting this. It took me about a week to get it all worked out.

so yeah.. i realy dont know what to do now >.<
maybe i should wait for another CAT pack from amd to release..
but if you could find a fix for this i would you be very thank-ful !
Also im searching the whole day to find something -.-"
i Also readed this thread here -> http://www.overclock.net/t/1152730/battlefield-3-crossfire-issues-complete-list-of-known-fixs-here-11-11c-link-inside but nothing seems to work..

The ULPS thing was interesting. I did change that, and the 2nd GPU doesnt sit at near 0 now, its at the same as GPU 1 now. Not sure if it made any difference or not...

Yea, I turn off AA, HBOA, AF as well. Huge performance increase. I also put shadows to low. I guess I just dont care about shadows when Im more focused on objectives than scenary. Its very odd behavior. I came from a 5870 and I could run everything ultra without any problems. Now with this crossfire setup (2x 6870) not so much. I am almost ready to return these cards and go back to a single highend card.... Things just worked better...

I found this on another website and saw noticable improvements.

Edit user.cfg with the followin (some are just for monitoring which arent needed to be on, but its good for diag)

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
Worldrender.spotlightshadowmapenable 1
RenderDevice.TrippleBufferingEnable 1
GameTime.MaxVariableFps 60
Render.DrawFps 1
Render.PerfOverlayEnable 1
Render.PerfOverlayvisible 1

Now I can play more or a less with everything Ultra, with no lag/stuttering.

I also read somewhere that 6990's in particular in crossfire have major problems after the latest BF3 patch, and if you turn one off it performs much better.

Yes, you do that because it's obviously ALL AMD's fault that the game code isn't stable and has memory leaks etc, and also obviously, no nVidia card users are having similar issues either because they never ever ever have issues at all, not one, never need Beta drivers pushed out 4 times a week or make drivers which burn cards up straight from the box, they just work great and never have issues with their sh1t ..

Sorry, been playing SkyRim and just drank a major 1million point SARCASM potion ... because that's all your last comment merits ..

with the money i did spend on the 6990 ( 700 ) i should expect some decent gaming, yes?, atleast not to worry about any stutter.
i doubt DICE will fix it

So you think a dual-GPUs / multi-GPUs from nVidia will not be affected by micro-stuttering then ..? Do you also think that EA/DICE aren't working on patches to resolve things due to their coding issues ? Do you also think that AMD aren't trying to get XFire and dual-GPU cards working correctly too ? If  you don't, et ben, t'es Belge ..

Anothing thing I noticed was go into game play and turn off Network Smoothing. It seems to have helped now alot on online play. Frame rate seems to lock in and not budge at all.

You should read this tweak guide for the game. Pay special attention to the in-game settings...what you gain from them and what it cost you.

http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/battlefield-3-tweak-guide

Oh...btw did you try lowering texture quality to 'high'?
