I tried installing the ATI driver on 2011 the same way I did on 2010, under the Configure Graphics Server in MCC. It would say that a proprietary driver was available and ask if I wanted to use it but it never downloaded the driver. I saw a post that suggested downloading the driver from the ATI site. When I try to run it it fails. Here is the contents of the error log. Any and all assistance is appreciated.

Does this board have any onboard graphics / does this card still have basic funtion w/o drivers? It looks like the installer did a poor job of removing the old version of the driver.

Try uninstalling the old driver via whatever means you installed it (make, or repo) and then try installing the new driver again.

Thanks Huck.  Given that this was an in place upgrade from Mandriva 2010 to 2011, even though I followed the instructions perfectly the environment was never quite right.  I think a lot of it was that in 2010 I was using the Gnome desktop which was not available in 2011.  Even after switching to KDE I still had some problems.  So I did the old, reliable fall back.  I used the Mandriva 2011 DVD I downloaded to perform a fresh install and restored from my Back In Time drive and everyting was OK.  Thanks for the reply though.
