I have the 5800 with Eye 6 and 6 mini display ports. Since the Apple's are native MDP I figured I could add them to my hearts content. Well 3 work perfectly at their native rez of 2560x1440. I can set up eye software with zero issue.

The problem is when I add the 4th, they all drop down to 1600 x 1200 in the Eye software yet run individually at 2560 x 1440. What am  I doing wrong?

You can only do 8k by 8k with eyefinity Resolution IIRC.

Is there a card out there that can push 4 27"'s?

Starting with Catalyst 11.10 the HD 6000 series and above can do 16000 x 16000 resolution, HD 5000 series cards are limited to 8000 x 8000 at this time

Other than the 6990 ( it has teh ports I need but reviews say it is just too loud) can I say get two 6970's and use the bridge and have 6 native MDP's and pump out to 4 27's with eye?

ACtually I have learned its not a problem with the card but the limits of EyeInfinity itself. The max rez is tapped out by my three monitors at 7680 x 1440.

Even the new 7 series cards have the same limits. Oh well.

Eyefinity 2.0

One of the biggest success stories of the Radeon series was the introduction of Eyefinity. Eyefinity allows you to use multiple monitors in desktop and gaming mode. Typically you needed the very same monitors and resolutions, Eyefinity 2.0 changes that. You are now actually able to create a custom resolution. So if you have three difference sized monitors, you can actually get that working (not that I'd recommend it) .

More monitor signal bandwidth is created with the 7900 series cards as well, you may now create resolutions of 16k x 16k. This for a fact allows you to setup say five screens in 5.1 Landscape mode in 1920x1200 and even 2560x1600 monitors.
