Hey,

So got this Gigabyte 7950 3Gb yesterday and now having quite annoying problem with it, games works just fine but im randomly getting weird flickering/flashing at taskbar area when using web browser or just sitting in dekstop. I know it has something to do with 120hz refresh rate as if i set refreshrate to 60hz that flickering wont happen anymore. Anyone has any ideas how could sort that? Im so used to 120hz that even moving mouse at desktop looks really laggy when have to use 60hz

Here is small vid to show what i mean: http://youtu.be/s7mvJekh6Ho

Comp is:

i5 2500K, Maximus IV gene-z, Gigabyte 7950 3gb,  8gb 1600mhz. 64Gb SSD + 1tb HDD. Thermaltake TP grand 750w, Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, Asus VG236H 120hz monitor

That monitor is 60hz&60hz interpolated to give 120hz for 3D stuff .. so your 60Hz looking laggy to you is a placebo effect and you've been sucked into the marketing crap and are now imagining seeing things which don't exist as 60hz is less than 120hz .. it's in your head.

As for the tearing type flickering, it could be a driver bug if you've eliminated all other options from the settings in VECC .. or it could be that that's what happens in non-3D situations and 60hz is optimal for normal usage ..

If card does same tearing on a normal TFT set to 60Hz, 75Hz or 85hz, then there's also a possibility of you having a faulty card. If you think it's faulty, send it back and if replacement does same, then it's an issue with your drivers or monitor settings or a combo of both.

You should do bit research before posting things like that, this monitor does not use interpolation lol. Its nvidia 3dvision ready real 120hz screen not one of those so called amd hd3d ready ones which uses interpolation.

I dont think the card is faulty as other users seems to be getting similar things with 120hz monitors & 7 series cards, likely its just same bug that has been occasionally present in amd drivers since release of 5 series cards years ago that multi monitor/dual link dont use prober clocks & voltages and then it starts to flicker.

Just posted here is anyone knows solution for that or is only possibility just to wait next driver release and hope its fixed on those

I did but from their specs it wasn't clear, and the mention of shuttered glasses made it seem like it was an interpolated x2 60hz monitor ..

Best fire a mail to the driver team and include all of your system component specs along with a report on how to replicate the issue etc .. maybe they'll be able to work something out from that or tell you why it does that at 120hz ..  .. ..

I just dont understand how manufacturer can release these produckts without having proberly working drivers for it. I really count this problem to be quite unforgivable specially when they been having 100% same issue with 2 earlier generation of cards (5 & 6 series), they should of learned about those already and not just repeat same old mistakes. I could live with problems with some certain games as that always the case with new cards  drivers that needs optimizing in time, but this kind of problem is just over the top.

Did bit research and it does not only be 120hz monitors which are affected, its also affects you if you have dual dual and that is kinda ridicilous, afterall these cards are supposed to be best for the multi display use with eyeinfinity LOL.

Looking at the reviews for that monitor it appears that A LOT of people have issues with it, so go on ASUS's support forums and talk to them.

Well its not only this monitor, this problem persist with every 120hz monitor & 79xx series cards with current drivers. This monitor just seems to be the one most peoples has so hence why you get most hits about it.

Example in finnish forum there is 3 guys with same problem, one has LG 120hz, ones has BenQ X2410T and then there is one with acer one. Drivers are just screwed up for 2d/120hz atm.

New type of VGA card / New type of monitors / new drivers = expect issues and in the meantime, submit a driver bug report to them ..
