This looks like a winner for people with 7xxx cards...and people with switchable graphics.

But the suggestion is that owners of 5xxx and 6xxx cards stay with the 18 April 8.97 drivers.  http://benchmark3d.com/amd-catalyst-8-97-18-april

You might not think that if you had a 7xxx card.

I installed these drivers on the weekend and was blown away by the difference.

I was using 12.1 previews. They were good,, but

Skyrim is beautiful. The difference is amazing. All my games have taken on a new life. This is how its supposed to be.

These work Great for my 5xxx series cards.

I did get a blue screen halfway thru the install tho. I rebooted into safemode, ran driver sweeper 3.20 and reinstalled.

No problems now. I cannot belive how much of a difference I have now.

Thanks AMD team.

I guess I can hold onto my 5870's for awhile longer. No need to change now.

After reading this I decided to install the 12.7's. I have stayed with the April drivers as they showed to be better for my card. I was really surprised...these work great. Also, CCC and MOM started right up..instead of the delay I was having. I had tried the earlier 12.6 betas and expierenced slow downs and overall poor performance. The 12.7's give a better performance for my 6970.

edit: I also experienced better 3D performance running PC Pitstop's tool  http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/pitstop.asp (you must use IE 32bit...not 64bit or Firefox)
