Hello,

I am running 2x v7900's on 8 screens with win7 64bit on a i7 with 16gb ram running version 9 of catalyst drivers.

When I set up all 8 screens as 1 big screen in eye infinity the system runs as it should.  I can set up a pre-set and switch fine between modes.

A lot of the time when I reset the machine all this information is lost. The screens all start up mirrored and then the pre-set won't get it back to how it should be.

This is for an installation in a museum and needs to be stable.

I am going to try a new install of Win7 64bit and the latest version 12 of catalyst drivers that have just been released for the v7900.

I would like to try win7 32bit.  Has anybody noticed if this is any better?

I have seen several other posts with people running the same system as me, v7900 and win7 64bit having the same problem of losing settings on restart so this must be a driver problem. I noticed that settings being lost on a restart was a known problem with another workstation card.

I need the eye infinity settings to be saved on a re-start or at least the pre-sets to still work.

Does anyone have any suggestions or work arounds?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, James

From my problems.

1 - don't reinstall, definitely don't waste time with 32bit windows.

2 - SOME of the time, it will survive if the monitors are on before the PC. As long as NOTHING changes.

(right now, with 8.982.17 I cannot think of a single nice thing to say about eyefinity.)

I, too, am facing this issue with Eyefinity. We have 3 Eyefinity cards (PowerColor HD7870), and each time I boot the computer, the displays are assigned a different number. It seems somewhat random as to which display gets which number. If one of the displays in an Eyefinity grouping (as opposed to a single extended view not in a group), it will lead to that group being disabled and each display in it will either be disabled or mirrored.

Saving a preset does not help me, either, because it will not restore them properly, probably because the numbering changes.

I don't know how to proceed on this, so I appreciate any ideas. I had the problem with Catalyst 13.4 and also with Catalyst 13.6 beta.

See my system specs below.

Thanks,

Dale
