Ever since TR came out, i have been keeping a close eye on TressFX.

I have come to my conclusions that the current version doesn't work properly on 2 cards.

Here are my benchmark results (everything was done at 1080p with maxed out other settings, except the AA on FXAA instead of SSAA):

2 cards without: http://kzn-clan.nl/imgup2/rD

2 cards with: http://kzn-clan.nl/imgup2/rV

1 card without: http://kzn-clan.nl/imgup2/rl

and 1 card with: http://kzn-clan.nl/imgup2/rk

As you can see, with 2 cards my performance drops by 33.7% by enabling TressFX, while with one card that is 40.8%.
The gain of having a second card is way too low.

Furtermore the annoying flickering issue, here i do a test with ultra preset and then turn exclusive fullscreen off (basically making it fullscreen windowed) to have quickly 1 card only enabled (since AMD cannot use Crossfire in windowed mode), see for yourself:

I'm running a i7-2600k@4.2GHz with Dual Sapphire HD6870, using Win8 x64 Pro and 13.2 Beta 7 drivers.
Other details seem to be absolete for this problem, but if you still rather want them then i'll post them afterwards.

I hope this can be solved very quickly, kinda a shame to see an AMD feature not work properly in conjunction with another AMD feature...

I had a similar issues, so much so I decided to rebuild the PC.

Now my Crossfire 6870's are on a brand new build, beta 13.2 7 For whatever odd reason if I start the game from a PC cold boot with crossfire enabled the screen just goes blank(have to power off).  However if I turn Crossfire off after power off/restart, start the game it runs fine.  If I quit the game turn Crossfire back on and start the game it runs fine. Since I had similar issue with this before the rebuild i suspect driver/and or application issues. No other games I've tried have issues on the cold boot.

When it does run its been doing better.  The frame rates seem better crossfired but since I am only running it on the high settings with Tress on at 1080P.   the in game benchmark was minimun 32 Max 62 Average 52

You're having a math failure.

Your screenshots show a 93% increase in average frame rate using Crossfire without TressFX, which is near perfect scaling.  They show a 116% increase with TressFX, which is better than perfect scaling.

You seem to be under the impression that the 40% performance hit that TressFX gives you with a single card should be a 20% hit with two cards.  That's not how percentages work.  Exact scaling would be a 40% hit to the two-card non-TressFX score, while you got less of a hit - hence the better-than-perfect scaling with TressFX.

Ah, ok that was a big mistake on my part then.

But the Time desync of Direct Compute threads between cards still stands then.

There's definitely something wonky with the hair in your video.  I just loaded the game and enabled TressFX to see if I could duplicate it, but I didn't get any of that flickering.  I also found TressFX to be much more smooth overall, which I'll have to attribute to the recent patch.

I'm using the 12.11 beta drivers still, since the 13.2 beta drivers have had flickering problems with CF.
