I know most blogs said that AMD promised the frame latency fix would be today. 7-31-13. I also know the unofficial tweet said on or around today. I'm not upset it's not here yet, but would be very interested in knowing a status report on how the driver is progressing. The most recent info I could find was from 6-24-13 from Tom's Hardware Forum, and that was just a rehash of the announcement saying the driver shoukd be here. Thanks in advance for any new info regarding Crossfire.
I'm sure they will beta them before any WHQL is issued. It would be foolish not to, they don't have a large enough sample size yet. Spending the time and energy for a windows cert, with the possibility of compatability issues on older cards, would be a waste. After all, the only prototype videos i've seen are for the Tahiti chip, namely the 79xx cards.
Beta drivers aren't like beta software, they're actually stable versions which AMD releases so they can add new features and fix issues on the fly. There will always be issues, you can't not have issue with the number of hardware and software configurations, this is a PC, not Apple. Thankfully it looks like AMD is finally going to stop wasting time and money on Windows XP so we should start seeing a bit more quality in the packages. And if they still continue to support XP, they need to save a few thousand dollars and fire the idiot who thinks XP deserves to have time wasted on it.
Actually beta drivers act in the same facility as software, they are stable releases, as you said, though set to be tested on larger subject pools before being released as "Official" hense the 'driver as is' statement on the DL page. Please don't presume to speak for AMD on such matters. I appreciate all the contributing you have done in the forum as i've been reading your posts for a while now, though i cannot say i agree with all your answers. Thank you again, however, for your response as it was intended to help solve my question.
Farcry 3 appears much smoother in exception of vehicles, as previously stated by anidatte.
Crysis 3 on my end appears much smoother too.
Dishonored, fallout new vegas, skyrim, Metro Last light, and the witcher 2 all seem about the same. As far as all those benchmarks on the reviews... I really couldn't care much about their readings. I care about how smooth the game is when i'm playing it. So far i haven't experienced any less performance than the 13.6 drivers, and i do see some noticeable gains in some games. All in all I'd have liked better performance, though i'm not going to complain.
After I was read your post, ulyriel, I tried to install drivers again. But it isn't help in Crysis 3 on my PC. I still have much lower FPS on 13.8 with CFX. I try to use AMD Issue Reporting Form for Beta Driver but it's closed now (why?)...
I tested new driver in Assassin's Creed III. Game still works slower with CFX enabled. But in this game I got this issue on 13.6B2 too...
I'm thinking about selling my cards and buy one, better card. I think it's the best way.
i have just tried metro 2033 benchmark at 5760x1080 and there used to be a bit in the middle where it dipped to about 17fps with new driver did not drop below 50fps and the graphs at the end of test where pritty much level all the way across. lost some points on 3dmark fire strike and vantage but on vantage there was one bit were it shows you fields and hills and the bit at the bottom of the screen where it tells you fps used to flicker no more flickering
