Hello.  I currently have an AMD Radeon 8950 purchased as part of an Alienware Aurora R4.  I would like to use SLI, howver Dell doesn't have the 8950 for sale as a separate part, and I cannot find it elsewhere.

This is the 8950 OEM version, and reading up on it I have found that it can also be called the "7950 Boost" version.  It shows up as 7950 in HWInfo.  (See Screenshot)

I purchased a Radeon HD 7950.  I am pretty sure they will work SLI, however I thought I would ask you folks and get some advice.

Power supply is a multi-GPU approved 825 watt. 32 GB DDR3 1600. 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3960X CPU, liquid cooled.

You mean CROSSFIRE X not SLI when connecting AMD cards.  You can try it...be sure to connect a Crossfire bridge AND enable Crossfire in Catalyst.

Look up the motherboard model and study the user manual.  Does your motherboard support two  x16 slots?

Thank you for the reply. Sorry, yes, I meant Crossfire.  I am A: Old and B: New to this.

I do have to x16 slots, and two x1 slots.  Does the bridge come with the card or do I need to purchase one?

Inside case, second x16 slot.

It is a thin copper-colored strip ~3.5" long that has "Crossfire X" printed on it.  Connects to the top left of each card vertically (use one only).

No mention of your mobo model (user manual) and if it will run at 2 x16 lanes OR 1 x16 AND 1 X8 or 1x4 even though both are PCI-e x16s.  Being v3.0 most likely will run both at 16 lanes, but your video bus data shows 2 values.

Oh I know what the bridge is, I was just wondering if it comes with the 7950 I ordered or if I need to purchase it separately. The board does support 2x16 as evidenced by the user manual and HWInfo.

Great!

Yeah, it should be supplied with the new card.  Try the latest beta drivers.

Another question:  There is no official driver for the 8950, and the AMD Driver Update program never registers an update.  When I Crossfire these cards, do I need to download an additional driver or are they both driven by the currently installed driver?

I would assume the latter...

Driver Packaging Version    13.20-130723a-159703E-ATI
Catalyst Version    13.8
Provider    Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
2D Driver Version    8.01.01.1343
2D Driver File Path    /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version    9.14.10.0989
OpenGL Version    6.14.10.12438
AMD Catalyst Control Center Version    2013.0723.1944.33607
AMD Audio Driver Version    7.12.0.7716

Use the same driver and enable CrossfireX.
