After much head ache of installing and uninstalling drivers constantly I finally was able to get my crossfired gigabyte 7950s from rebooting to the black screen with the blinking cursor in the top left.
Now I was checking with GPU-Z for temps and such and noticed that the second card is running in the boost state 100% of the time at 1000 mhz core clock and 1250 mhz memory clock. The primary card seems to go into idle / low state and drops to 300 mhz Core Clock and 150 mhz memory Clock
If I disengage crossfire both cards drop to the idle state of 300 mhz core and 150 mhz memory.
Why does enabling crossfire automatically kick the second card into high gear even if I'm not doing anything but say writing this message or reading articles on the internet?
I have overdrive disables for both cards as well. When I read CCC it says the second card is at 99% activity level with a 65% fan speed and 0 power with a temperature of 59 C
Are this misreads or true? They seem to match what Gpu Z is stating is occurring
