Which is what happens when you combine people with money in their pocket and inability to do a web search, and ad men who promote the fact that cheapo 970 chipset garbage motherboards as "CROSSFIRE COMPATIBLE!" which, while that fact is true, is not the whole truth as modern powerful cards are easily bottlenecked by the 2.0 x4 slot (you can make a good argument for an untruth via omission fallacy.) Back when the most powerful card was a HD 4890 (which is only 52% as fast as a 7870 Ghz edition on paper, little bit less in practice) it was a different story, but these days things are different. It's the job of manufacturers and advertising men to spin the truth to sell a product, so you can't really blame them for only pointing out cherry picked facts and half truths.

But it still comes down to people taking the time to do their own research and understanding everything. Spending 15 minutes searching and educating yourself means you can avoid headaches and not be taken in by people and companies who say a 2.0 x16/x4 is sufficient for upper middle to high end gaming. It's like those speakers you see at Walmart that say something along the lines of "500W OF POWER!!!" in big bold font with a tiny little asterisk and on the back in 8 point font (if that big) you see *Peak power output. 100w RMS. Or, to use another hardware example, an AMD processor promoted as "World's first 5ghz processor!" when it has less performance than an Intel priced less because the IPC ratio is not 1 : 1. Or "120hz refresh rate!" advertised on a monitor or television, when it is a simple 60hz display with interpolation or frame doubling capabilities.

Or do those games even support crossfire?I know when I was playing Grid1,I just disabled 1 card(6950) to play on ultra.

After checking there respective websites,I doubt they will ever even need crossfire.

updated to 13.12 drivers, still no performance in any game !  both 6970s say there running at 25% usage and my cpu is around the same , i should see some kind of increase in fps but nothing, and im not the only one , maybe amd should fix this otherwise crossfire is useless !

Try it with one card only!

Just because your running crossfire doesn't mean you will always need it.Not every game is coded for it,but for those that are it works great.

I play with rf, gtr2, gtre, and other similar ,I have similar sistem of you ,and no problem to enable crossfire on two 6670 1gddr5,in amd ccc menu you should find "game">amdcrossfirex and select "activate amd crossfirex"if you do not find it ,then you can try autodetect drivers on amd support and install new drivers (that surely it isnt the newest but the most appropriate .

I really find it laughable the OP stuck a 7870ghz edition in a 4x slot.

Your right on the money!

To get the most out of your Crossfire 7 series you should have two 16x PCI-E slots. If the second card is on a 4x slot its really not helping too much to increase FPS. And yes, the CPU is a bottleneck for sure but could still work on many games rather well.

Also when the demand on the cards is too low the second card will not function, this is the reason when he installed a more demanding monitor and resolution the second card kicked in. You need to disable ULPS. Search for the program and run it then restart. You will see the second card running all the time.

Hey OP you cant have an attitude and expect help. The only people that will reply are trolls and they will just play with your head!
