Hello all,

I built my first pc 6 or 7 months ago (been waiting to do it for a while) and could not be happier. With the holidays coming up I've had people ask me what I want as I am a hard person to shop for. As I didn't have anything explicitly on my mind, I figured I would think about what I would want to upgrade my PC. The only thing that came to mind was that I've been able to stress my machine once in a blue moon while gaming. Specifically, playing particularly large battles on Rome:Total war 2 etc.

I was thinking about getting a second SAPPHIRE FleX 7950 Boost and crossfiring them together. I had a couple of questions though. Does it need to be the exact same card? That card seems to be sold out a lot of places I am looking. How flexible can I be on what my second card is? I assume I want the same chipset (7950), but does it matter if it is a different manufacturer? I have heard that there is more flexibility with crossfiree. Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be a good card to crossfire with my current setup?

Here is my current build:

Corsair Obsidian 650D mid tower
i5 3570k (3.4Ghz)
16 gig g.skill ripjaw X
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
SAPPHIRE FleX 7950 Boost
Samsung 840 pro 256 gb
Seasonic x650 gold

Use this machine for your typical work and play, but the majority of my stress usage is gaming.

Thanks so much for your help!

Here are a few of the games that I play:

Rome TW 2
League of Legends
Farcry 3
Dead Space
Dead Island

You can crossfire another 7970, 280x or 280 (not released yet) , 7950, 7950 boost ,7970 boost. (I'm sure you get the idea now) Manufacturer doesn't matter.

What do you think of this one. See any issues? This card is better than my current card. Is there any "setting the master" etc or will one card dumb down to the others max specs?
