I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a GTX690 and be done with CCC all together trying to run Crossfire.

I am attempting to use my iPad as a 2nd monitor using Air Display and everything works fine until I back out of FFXIV and my PC freezes. I have tried just making the display settings in FFXIV borderless window but it keeps changing it to 720p. I have read numerous times where people were able to just enter the resoltuion they want and that fixed it, but it will not accept it for me.

I dont know if it is because I play on a 60" 1080p 240hz tv or what the deal is, I have 2 ATI 6990 in crossfire and would really prefer to be able to play in full screen to take advantage of the Crossfire unless full screen isn't needed any more. I know it was for 1.0 and all the benchmarks.

Can someone please tell me what I am missing here ?

at this point I am wondering if the HDMI handshake is having an issue going through my A/V Receiver, I had issues with my PS3 not playing 3D content unless it was wired directly to the TV.

If the game truly does just check the desktop resolution and runs off that then this shouldnt be the case though.

I had a few FC members who play on big tv's try this too and they said their game looks the same on full screen and borderless window. Mine just doesnt and you can notice it very easily on the resolution of text/menus and the positioning of my character. On full screen i cannot zoom in on my character as far as I can on borderless window. The "camera" is set back farther on full screen and when switching to borderless windo it blows up the image and zooms in closer.

Here are my screen shots of 1080p Full Screen and then when I changed to Borderless WIndow

Can someone please tell me what the heck I am doing wrong here ?

Well I am kinda shocked nobody from AMD was willing to even give an attempt to help me.

I will be moving to a GTX690 and will not be returning as an ATI/AMD customer.

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!

After running my HDMI cable directly to the TV that still didn't fix it which I was pretty upset about but it did give me a big jump in FPS. I was about to just give up when I thought I would check my font/icon settings. Since I play about 8' from my 60" TV i increased the size to 150% so I could read the text and icons.

BINGO !

As soon as I loaded FFXI it let me play 1080p borderless windowed, again this was bittersweet as I got it working but the huge drop now in FPS for not using my other card in Crossfire. After doing some more testing and checking that my iPad still was working as a 2nd monitor I was ready to try and test backing out of the game to go to my desktop. To my suprise this worked just as it should, I was able to exit the game and go back in with no crashing. I was reluctant to attempt to click on my iPad monitor as that might cause another crash but it worked fine too.

Solution: I guess you cannot increase your font/icon size for windows and play to your full desktop resolution in Borderless WIndowed or for playing Full Screen with Dual Monitors.
