My apologies if this has been asked before. But where can I get a list of past and present games that support CrossfireX and can actually show real world benefits. I just bought 2 XFX R9270X cards and would like to get good use of my CrossfireX system.

Thank you in advance

Thank you AMD...I think.

Why didn't you buy a single 280X and not have to worry about Crossfire?

The majority of AAA games scale up to 90% more or less nowadays.

The Real question is what games out there have negative scaling or poor support (Wolfenstein i am looking at you !) ?

And of course how willing are you to use third party software and mess around to optimize your game experience when it is not given to you by default ?

But again, it can't be given to you in roses all the time.

We are pc users afterall (and some of us console lovers too; there i said it).

As black_zion said, and in my opinion, modern users and potential buyers should really first aim for the best single gpu experience. There are already more powerfull than the recent past.

I would trade my HD6990 for a single R9 290X or even a 290 any day. And i probably will, given the chance (and budget).

EDIT 1:  oh, i nearly forgot. Enjoy your set up, it should give you plenty of performance combined with some good drivers.

EDIT 2:   ignore my previous post (that game needs patches first anyway)

All source engine games (hl2,tf2, garrysmod and similar)

crysis3 (crysis2 had some bad moments)

arma2(it depends, mostly bad scaleing due to bad engine , cpu intensive)

arma3(fps scales, but also input lag, it wont fix min fps isue when cpu bottlencks)

planetside2(scaleing good, but only when cpu not bottlenecking)

natural selection 2 (good scaleing >180% in dx11 mode)

bf3 (scales on ultra settings, but also cpu usage dramaticaly increaces in cf mode, only good if u have atleast  8 true core cpu)

EDIT 2:    try the "Among the Sleep" game. It is really good, if kinda short.

It gives hellish stuttering for me with crossfirex enabled though, so disable it.

Just tried Battlefield: Hardline Beta..  Works great with crossfire as long as Mantle is enabled in game settings.  Scales almost 2 to 1.  Without crossfire 59 FPS,  with crossfire 111 FPS.  Ultra settings ,  4xfsaa 1680x1050.

Why the hell are you using Crossfire at 1280x1050?

Because at that antique resolution a single 270X has plenty of power?

Yes, the cards won't be utilized to their full potential in that resolution

shagg:   go for 1080p, max settings in-game. Better experience by miles.

Thanks for the constructive reply, rather than "why the hell this or that" like the previous poster. People come to these forums for help and not to be ridiculed. Chances are I am not the only one running at a resolution of 1680x1050 and using crossfire.

You didn't say 1680x1050. And it doesn't matter if you were getting a million FPS, your monitor can only display as many frames as its refresh rate, which in your case is 60.

Crossfire looks totally justifiable in this case, in my opinion.  If you are getting an *average* 59 fps in single gpu mode, there you are almost certainly dipping below that on occasion.  However, in Crossfire mode you are getting 111 fps average, then it's probably unlikely you are dipping below 60 fps.  That's fantastic.  Turn on vsync to lock the frame rate at 60 fps (so you don't get screen tearing), and you never have to worry about dropping below the vsync rate while in Crossfire mode.  Perfect.

I'm not sure what is up with posts like black_zion where he criticized your resolution.  If you are using a 1680x1050 monitor, then by all means use that resolution.  However, if you are using a 1080p monitor, definitely run the native 1920x1080 res.  I think he might've just been surprised to see someone still using something less than 1920x1080, since it is getting a bit uncommon now days.

To put it simply: running 2 R9 270X gpus on a lower resolution than 1080p is a type of bottleneck for the potential power of the cards.

It hints that shagg should probably upgrade his monitor to a native 1080p monitor at least at some time, to get the most out of the cards in most modern good games.

But it's still his choice.
