So, as the topic says, I have two R9 290's in crossfire. I am using vsync, and am having the audio issues that people are reporting. I've read a bunch of different things about this, but from what I'm seeing it's a driver issue? I have tried a bunch of different drivers that people say will fix the issue, but none of the drivers I've tried have fixed it. What are the exact drivers I should be using, and what steps should I take to uninstall what I have and install the new drivers.

Clean install the latest 64bit amd drivers

This didn't work. I'm still experiencing popping sounds with crossfire and vsync enabled.

Are you using HDMI cable ?

That is an example of people having the same issue.

Issue Details
When crossfire and vsync are enabled, I get a popping and crackling sound. When I disable either crossfire or vsync, the issue stops.

So I just clean installed the latest 14.6 beta drivers and got a warning when installing, which I also got when installing the 14.4 drivers. This is what it said:

Well, the log shows everything is installed succesfully, but i don't see the AMD HDMI audio driver anywhere.

In addition, if i am correct, i see a failed attempt to download and install additional driver package.

Do you have windows update to automatically download gpu drivers ?

If so, change the setting or disable internet connection (on reboot as well) during the whole clean installation procedure.

When you uninstall a driver suite, make sure all is uninstalled:

- catalyst install manager

- amd display driver

- hdmi audio driver

- amd catalyst control center

- amd accelerated video transcoding

 

Then, and only then, try a clean install of drivers (internet off).

 

Can you try a different hdmi cable, or a different type of cable (like dvi-d) ?

 

There is a big chance it's a driver bug, so wait for the upcoming driver.

That link shows the problem was acknowledged months ago, and they said it was fixed, but I am still having the same issue.

I suggest that you try the 14.3 beta and send a report to amd customer care in the meantime.
