the question is quite simple. i know that you can crossfire a 280x with a 7950, but i dont know if you can do so with a 280.
I already have a 7950 so I would like to know..

Yes, you can Crossfire a HD 7950 with a R9-280. They are both essentially the same GPU.

HD 7950 specs:

  • Based on the "Tahiti" Core
  • 1792 Stream Proceesors
  • 32 ROP's
  • 112 TMU's
  • 384-bit memory interface
  • 3GB or 6GB VRAM options

R9-280 specs:

  • Based on the "Tahiti" Core
  • 1792 Stream Proceesors
  • 32 ROP's
  • 112 TMU's
  • 384-bit memory interface
  • 3GB or 6GB VRAM options

They vary on clock speeds depending if it's factory overclocked or not by the manufacturer.

 

You can Crossfire your HD 7950 with any of the following:

  • Another HD 7950
  • HD 7970
  • R9-280X
  • R9-280
