since the latest bf4 patch i can't run mantle with my gpus in xfire.  in non xfire the game is fine but with xfire on i'm getting memory leaks and lag.  not sure lag isn't from the memory leak.  is this a amd driver issue or do i have to wait for bf4 to write a new patch?

I have the same issue.  Running 2 R9 290's in Crossfire.  After about 10 minutes in-game my framerate goes from ~140 to 40-60 (but it feels more like 20fps).

You do realize that Mantle was designed to benefit low to mid range computers , don't you? They have stated that high end rigs will see little to no improvement. Can't you be happy just playing the **d ***n game instead of thinking you are missing out on something?

Mantle API helps reduce draw calls which helps in CPU bound scenarios.  By and large, multiplayer BF4 is CPU bound for the framerates that I'm trying to achieve (>120fps).  Which is why Mantle is a huge help for me.  Additionally frame time variance is reduced with Mantle as compared to DirectX particularly in Crossfire configurations.  Read this:

Also, take your condescending tone somewhere else.  Or not if you like - I'm sure this forum has a block function ...

It's not condescending if it's true:

With a strong processor, such as a 4770k or an overclocked 3770k, the average frame rate difference is only 6% which is pretty negligible when you're talking about frame rates in excess of 60 already, whereas with a processor with a much smaller IPC capability, such as the 8350, the difference grows to 34%, and much more significant when you're talking about an increase from 47fps to 71fps. And before you say anything about the resolution, you are using a 3.072MP display, while the benchmark is using a 3.6864MP display, which is...larger...

If you want more FPS, complain to the developer.

Hmmm..patch didn't affect mine at all..sweet!

These are the only Graphical changes on the last patch:

GRAPHICAL:
-Fix for an issue where the player would get a water splash effect on the screen after crashing an EOD/MAV/SUAV into the water
-Fix for an issue where Mantle users would receive a low frame rate when running the default Mantle multi-GPU settings

Port authority

One of the final benefits that AMD laid out in its Mantle presentation at AMD Hawaii was that the API can leverage optimization work from next-gen game consoles to PCs.

Because Graphics Core Next has been around for a few years, game developed already know what to expect from the Mante's GCN-based architecture.

"That means it will allow those same developers to utilize that knowledge gained and leverage that to shorten the learning curve and development cycle," said Corpus.

"The experience of developing on Mantle of GCN arch could help improve and speed up the ports that are happening between consoles and the PC."

Faster porting times, lower development costs, and the ability to work on other pressing issues is all going to benefit the end user when a game comes out."

Yeah...right

I'll take the 6% boost and the improved frametime variance.  It makes a difference.  The article I linked has this image in it.  (Go read the article if it doesn't show up.)

BF4 Frametimes

All of this aside, it turns out that I have the same poor graphical performance when I choose the D3D renderer as well.  When I turned off Crossfire the framerate was smooth but in the 80-90s (on low).  Something in the July 9th BF4 patch ruined Crossfire performance.  There are a few posts about it on Answers EA too - I'm not the only one.

Imagine that, a game problem NOT caused by drivers!
