Out of curiosity, I was wondering what it would take for AMD to research, develop, and mass produce a custom dual socket APU for a future gaming console.

I was thinking a dual  A-10 6800k APU w/ HD8000 series GPU Crossfired together would produce the same, if not superior performance than a next gen PS4 or Xbox.

Thoughts?

completely pointless, as a the new consoles are only rocking  what appears to be 3d performance around what the currently 7790 offers.Which means any 7850/7870 equiped machine will be faster in the 3d department.

As far as CPU performance is concerned. There useing amd versions of a low power 8 core CPU. Which means any current AMD CPU is most likly going to be faster. And current 8 core CPU's from amd are most definetly going to be faster then the custom APUs in next gen consoles.

They don't need to be, because a game for a kiddie console is built to stay within the constraints of the hardware, then they get to the PC and go insane with trumping up the textures and eye candy because they can just say "if you want it, then buy a more powerful card".
