I've just built a system for a friend using an A6 640K and a Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2 Motherboard (Win 7).

No matter what I do, the system won't regognise the APU for graphics. It defaults to basic vga and won't let me change the resolution above 800x600.

I've installed all the drivers I could find and every version of catalyst available, nothing works. Is the chip faulty or is there some driver hidden away somewhere that I need to go on a perilous quest for?

I'm trying to connect with vga, dvi and hdmi, all with the same result.

I don't want to end up losing a drinking buddy over this.

See the Sticky Read Before Posting, you need to supplly a little more information that the user forum requests. This does make it easier for someone to give assistance or advice.

thanks

Why are you not using F4 BIOS on your board.

Might just be a BIOS setting, Mate.

Give these a try -

Enter BIOS  (Press DEL a few times before Windows start-up)

Select 'Peripherals menu'

Select 'GFX configuration'

Option 1 -  Set 'Primary video device' as IGD Video

or

Option 2 -  Set 'Integrated graphics' as Auto or Force

When 'Force' is selected you could allocate memory to onboard graphics but I suggest to just set this as 'Auto'

'Save and exit' BIOS

Come back if this does not work

It was both of those things.

I updated the Bios, set the graphics configuration to IGD, did a clean uninstall of Catalyst, reinstalled Catalyst and now it all works.

Thanks guys, you saved my life.

I am having similar issues.  I also have a new build with  A6 6400K and a Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2 Motherboard  with Windows XP  and yes I know  support is going away for XP  but that is not my issue right now.    When I install the Catalyst Manager ,  I can play my games just fine.   When I try to watch a video, movie  within 30 seconds my computer freezes and restarts.  As long as no videos come on  I can surf the internet all i want.   Without the catalyst manager installed I can watch viedos and movies  fine but I cannot play any games.    I have never run into an issue like this.    Any suggestions not including a new OS?
