On a workbench I tested 2 pcs of Gigabyte Md # F2A88XN-WIFI and  1 pc of Md # F2A85XN-WIFI with the AMD A6-6400K APU (2x /3.9GHz).  ALL of these ran the APU very hot 76-85 C (temp in bios).  I then put a MSI motherboard MD # FM2-A75MA-E35 on the workbench with the AMD A6-6400K APU and it ran at 46 C.  I have decided that the problem is therefore with the Gigabyte internal bios settings for this APU. I recommend Gigabyte purchase this model and update your Bios(es).
I am using the "Retail Box" version of this APU with an AMD Heat Sink & Fan.  I am using 1pc  8GB DDR3-2133 by Team "Vulcan".  I put a fresh coat of Arctic MX-2 Heat Sink compound on the APU every time I moved it.

Interesting conclusion!

I have a similar setup with similar results. I've purchased a GA-F2A88XM-D3H also running on a A6-6400K. When entering the BIOS I see the temp approaching 60'C within just a few minutes. And that doesn't seem right at all. (Scythe Shuriken SCSK-1100 cooler). The BIOS settings are "Optimal default", no tweaks. The problems with this is my fans are whining like crazy. That's not much fun for a HTPC in the livingroom...

Have you had contact with Gigabyte about this? I'd be very interested in their response.

Simon.

I have the same MO BO with a A8-5600k APU. in Bios the temp is 47c. When the systems up and running coretemp reports the temp @55c at idle and when I run somthing intense it jump up as high as 85c. This concerns me as the specs say 74c is tjmax.
