I just replaced my a10-6800k -> a10-7850k.  After the swap, windows hangs on the spinning dots right before the logon screen.  I even tried reinstalling windows and the same thing happens right after the first portion of the windows installation.  I have tried updating my motherboard bios to the newest version, but this has made no difference.  Any suggestions?

Define "replaced" you took your A10-6800K out of your current motherboard and put a A10 7850K in ?

Or you replaced the motherboard and processor with a new 7850K and whatever motheboard , and did a fresh windows ?

Also do you mind providing useful information. See my signature as an example, Or read the big sticky and follow that format if you want help.

I removed the a10-6800k out of my FM2+ ASUS A88XM-A motherboard, and installed the a10-7850k.  I'm using the same motherboard.  Windows would not load after this point.  Since I had nothing important on the machine, I figured it would be faster to reinstall Windows than troubleshoot.  It seems as if Windows 8.1 crashes when trying to load one of its built-in drivers.  I've also tried removing my discreet graphics card, but I cannot get the IGPU to display anything from HDMI.  I will try VGA tonight.

System Specs

APU: A10-7850k

Motherboard: ASUS A88XM-A (newest bios)

GPU: ASUS Radeon 260X Direct CU II

I am running bios version 1003.  I can't even get windows running, so there's no way for me to install the beta drivers.

UPDATE:  I pulled one of my sticks of RAM and now the computer works fine!  It looks like the memory controller on kaveri doesn't like my dual channel g.skill ddr2400 memory.  I'll try a few more combinations and post results.

Looks like the A10-7850k will not work in dual channel mode for me.  I've tried alternating slots, different types of ram, etc.  As soon as its in dual channel mode, it  becomes unstable. Any suggestions?

I've already done this.  I have another update now:

- Windows will not load at all in dual channel mode
- 2 sticks of ram in single channel mode = very unstable (will lockup within 5-10minutes)
- 1 stick of ram is slightly less unstable (will lock up within 15-20 minutes)

I've tried different RAM modules of different speeds and different brands.  At this point, it just seems like Kaveri memory controller is defective, or its incompatible with the motherboard.

this happens with slower mushkin memory as well.  it does not seem to matter what the brand is.  I doubt using AMD memory would resolve this.

update: I tried reducing the ram timings 2-3 higher for everything, and reducing the memory clock speed.  Each time i slowed the ram down, the closer it made it to loading.  Eventually I was able to get windows to load in dual channel mode.  Now it will run windows for 5-10minutes before locking up.  Trying to run any intense applications like 3dmark will crash.  I'm sure if i reduce the timings even further I could get it more stable, but I shouldn't have to do this.

i did the same thing now running memory at 800 Im sure it is the mother board I called asus and they said it is the APU i don't think so since you have the same probelm. I think im going to send the motherboad back to newegg and get a msi or gigabit.

Oddly enough, I did not have this issue with this motherboard when I had the A10-6800k.  I would be inclined to think its an issue between the motherboard an a10-7850k specifically.

ok my friend gave me some samsung memory to try 4gb 1rx8pc3 1200u 11-12A1

it works and  i over clock it to 1833 stable. I could not get my gskill mem that is native 1833 to work at all at 1833 and only stable at 1333 so not im really Confused. it still does not work in duel chan but it works. does anyone from AMD read the forum or are we talking to our self.

have you tried running it at extremely low speed and with very retarded timings?  If i do that, it will run temporarily in dual channel, but will eventually lock up after 15 minutes or so.  I'm hoping to see that our situations are identical.

also, i tried the drivers that WMudrockJr posted, but they made absolutely no difference.  I dont even see how they are any different than the existing catalyst 13.11 beta9.5

Also, how do we go about contacting AMD directly about this issue?  I've looked online and there are lots of people reporting the same issue now.

our situation is identical i can not run any mem in dual channel at all.  I can run it in single channel but not stable with the ripjaw g-skill mem it will not boot at all if i set it to 1833 and that is it native speed. the samsung seems to be stable at 1833. that is what really kills me because the samsng is 1333 mem and is stable at 1833.  where is amd support they should be reading this. it is there chipset and there APU that is not working right!!!
