hi guys, built a brand new pc with the A10 5800k and is getting poor graphics aero WEI score of 4.8, gaming is 6.1. ram is running 1600mhz dual channel properly and I cannot get it higher for the life of me. 13.12 drivers and running win 7 ultimate 64 bit. My friend has the exact same build and specs and getting 6.2 in both aero and 3d gaming. Also everytime the cpu is under load, there is a moderate buzzing sound coming from it. Sounds exactly like a tattoo gun but not as loud. No sound when idle, but sound anytime the cpu is doing anything. I've tested it with a rolled up sheet of paper so I know for sure it's not the fan nor psu nor harddrive, comes from the cpu. It's not coil whine. Thoughts? Do I have a faulty APU?

System specs:
Cooltek (jonsbo) U3
Coolermaster 400W PSU
AMD A10-5800k
MSI FM2-A85XMA-E35
G.skill RipjawsX DDR3 2133 (F3-2133C9D-8GXL) running dual channel
Deepcool Gammaxx 300 heatsink
Seagate 1tb ST1000DM003 7200 rpm

thanks!

Who cares about the WEI score? i means absolutly *nothing* period don't even look at it. Its useless.

Never heard a CPU whine before.. I doubt its coming from there.

it's definitely coming from the cpu. I used a make shift stethescope with a rolled up paper tube and the sound is coming from the base of the cpu. Not the heatsink, ram, psu, hd. Right from the cpu, or the mobo where the cpu is attached.. i've never heard this before either. Could faulty PSU also cause this? not enough power getting to the cpu?

cpu buzzing has been diagnosed to be caused by the mobo's C6 state and Cool'n Quiet feature. The buzzing goes away once these features are off.

As for the wei score, the score doesn't matter to me but in game performance is pretty bad as well as photoshop opengl performance (which I use extensively)

any ideas?

latest WHQL drivers and running dual channel 2133 ram
