Okay, I'm not entirely sure if the method that ended up working is safe or acceptable .. but here goes.
System built around the A8 5600k; I didn't intend to use a dedicated GPU, at least not initially ..hence my choice. Very budget build.
Mobo is the Asus A55BM-A/USB3 (I know, not rocket technology)
RAM = GEiL Dragon Ram 4GB (single channel 1600mhz) ..single DIMM
Anyway, the system was AMAZINGLY unstable, right after assembly.. crashes left and right, huge temps..Which I guess can be expected with the stock cooler from reading about online. Naturally I downclocked the APU until I can get my hands on a decent cooler. Kept below 60C at all times, I was still getting complete system lockups.
A thought occured to me .. since the APU has to share system memory, maybe it was a timing issue.. they were all correct. Overvolted memory to 1.650 volts .. hasn't crashed since.
Is it safe to keep running the system in this configuration? Or will something else be damaged because of it?
