Good afternoon, my question is:

I have a processor "AMD Phenom II X4 965 HDZ965FBGIBOX 3.4GHz" on the web Discription said to 140W

http://products.amd.com/en-na/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=591

My question is, is compatible with AM3+ motherboards?

I'm looking in particular a micro atx motherboard.

Rregards

The answer is.. probably but not necessarily.

YOU need to decide on a motherboard then go to it's web page and examine the cpu compatibility list.

As hardwood stated, it depends on the motherboard.

As far as the socket is concerned, yes a socket AM3 CPU / Processor will work on a AM3+ motherboard. They have backwards compatability. I had a socket AM3 Phenom II X6 1090T running in my socket AM3+ motherboard (I just recently grabbed a AM3+ Processor).

AM3+ CPU / Processor will ONLY work on an AM3+ motherboard.

AM3 CPU / Processor will work on an AM3 or AM3+ motherboards. There are a few exceptions where the early Phenom II's could work on a AM2+ motherboard (i.e. Phenom II X4 940).

IMPORTANT: Even though the motherboard uses socket AM3 / AM3+, it may not support the 125W / 140W power draw of a Processor. Some low end boards can only support up to 95W. Keep an eye out...confirm with the manufacturer's website.
