I have built a new rig around a FX-670k removed from a HP machine, this chip was either built for HP or rebranded for HP.

My issue is my system does not recognize any sort of intigrated gpu (my mb is a MSI a88x-g45), are these coded to work with HP bios/motherboard only? The spec sheet for the HP system states the following;

AMD FX-670K APU with AMD Radeon HD 8670D Graphics (3.7 GHz, 4 MB cache, 4 cores)
Processor family: AMD FX processor

Here is crappy pic of CPU-Z

Well...first off, any of the APU's with

  1. A three digit number (i.e. 760K, 670K, 740, etc) means the an APU with the GPU portion of the chip disabled.
  2. "K" means it has a unlocked multiplier.

From the above reasons, the FX-670K that you have does not have a functioning GPU.

From the news around the web, HP is the only ones who has possesion to the FX-670K's. Even so, it can be used on "regular" motherboards.

It was kind of why the original HP computer that you bought came with a lower-end descrete graphics card...Radeon R7-240.

The HP computer that you bought should have been a "HP Pavilion 500" series, such as:

  • 500-259ca
  • 500-266ea
