My setup is basically a custom built NAS system running FreeNAS 220.127.116.11
Motherboard or System Make & Model
- MSI A55M-E33
- Latest BIOS version 32.5 installed
Display Device(s) and Connection(s) Used
- onboard HDMI just to check BIOS settings
Applications and Games
- Plex Media Server
- AMD A6-5400K
Motherboard BIOS Version
System Memory Type & Amount
- 2 X 4GB RAM (Part Number: CMX16GX3M4A1333C9)
- Corsair XMS3
Basically what is happening is I have 2 pieces of 4GB RAM installed to hopefully get 8GB, but the BIOS will only read 6GB. But when I remove 1 stick and only leave 4GB the BIOS will read the full 4GB. It does this for both sticks regardless of which slot its in.
Originally the RAM is from my main desktop system which was a kit of 4 X 4GB RAM, i originally thought maybe it didnt like the quad channel memory so I borrowed a dual channel one from a friend and got the same result. The part number for the dual channel memory was CMX8GX3M2A1333C9).
I am not even overclocking anything.
Has this got anythign to do with the APUs built in GPU, is it taking the missing 2GB RAM? If this is true then wouldnt I see 2GB when i just have the 1 stick installed?
I have exhausted all options in the BIOS and cannot get my head around this so if anyone can please help or provide an answer in what is happening here I would greatly appreciate it.
Please let me know if you need any more info.
