(A*****gies if this is in the wrong forum)

Any ideas how to fix this please? Clean installs of both Windows 8.1 32bit and 64bit result in black screen of death/unrecoverable Standby ONLY after installing AMD drivers.  With the basic windows display adapter the system works OK (obviously graphics can't handle anything requiring drivers).

Grateful for any ideas!

System:

-AMD Trinity A4-5300 3.40GHz APU, Socket FM2 with Integrated Radeon Graphics HD7480D

-Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3 motherboard

-8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM

-900Watt PSU

-128Gb Kingston V300 SSD

What I tried:

Clean install of Windows 8.1 32bit. Windows Update turned off. System looked great but any gaming struggled.  Ran Windows Update.  System rebooted and when logged in went into an unrecoverable black screen after about twenty seconds.  Uninstalling display adapter stopped this.

Flashed latest Bios. Updated all drivers available from Gigabyte. Same problem. Updated using AMD drivers.  Same problem.  Safe Mode was OK but installing drivers doesn't work well with AMD drivers in safe mode.

Formatted SSD.

Installed Windows 8.1 64bit.  Imaged SSD. Logged in and ran Windows Update except AMD driver update.  System ran fine.  Installed AMD driver update.  Black screen issue returned after reboot.  Re-imaged and tried with drivers direct from AMD website.  Issue returned.  Black screen, power button doesn't switch the system off, it has to be a hard power off to regain the system.  The system reboots, you log in then the problem comes back.

Any ideas please?  Gigabyte Support couldn't do anything.

Really?  Nothing even from AMD?

Would appreciate some troubleshooting help if nothing else; is this a motherboard thing, an AMD graphics thing or a driver thing?
