Now sure where to post this, but as it concerns an APU this is the only place ?!
A friend of mine would like me to build a PC for him based on the A10-6700 APU which is not a problem - however I have advised against this as my own experience of the APU has been to say the least down right disappointing .
Let me explain, I jumped on the APU band wagon with the introduction of FM1, the MoBo was a Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H (Hudson D3) with Bios F7 the latest Bios F8a just crashed the system. The APU was the A8-3850, only to find out that I had been left high and dry as the FM1 socket was dead and the A8-3870 was a high as I could go.
The system was horrendous from the beginning multiple BSOD under win 7 64bit, USB 3 failures, Lan disconnecting all the time and a few other things, the main bug bear was the fact the APU seemed to running flat out doing the most simple of things ie opening a web browser took an age, playing an MP4 video crippled the machine and I could not even thing about play any kind of games. I should say at this point I even ran the machine with a fresh install of win 7 and only the basic drivers for MoBo and APU.
I tried all the components I could ie Ram, HDD and PSU in another machine and no problems so I concluded that it was the MoBo or the APU ?!
Before I gave in completely I even tried the slightly under volt trick on the APU from 1.4v down to 1.3v but that did not help.
So I guess what I’m saking is have AMD got the FM2(+) APU’s and chipset to work correctly yet ? I know I’m looking at it from a bad point of view but any help would be appreciated !
One more thing according to HWiNfo 64 the A75 Chipset was averaging at 80c that seemed way to hot to me the case was well cooled as the APU averaged at 26c
