I recently upgraded my old desktop to a new workstation, and was recommend that I get the FirePro W7000 graphics card.

Below is my current system info:

FirePro W7000 (FireGL V)

Catalyst version 2012.1120.2318.41833

Windows 7 64 bit, version 6.1.7601 service pack 1 build 7601

I am running a 2D CAD program from AutoDeck called AutoSketch version 10. I have upgraded to AutoCAD LT 2013, but my existing jobs need to be finished using AutoSketch 10. I am also using a dual monitor set-up. When using AutoSketch in my old dual monitor set up, ALL child windows would open up on the same monitor that I was working on. With this new system, the child windows usually open up on the other monitor, which is set as the primary monitor. This sucks big time, and is a waste of my time and energy!

Another issue is, the dialog boxes that do open up on the larger monitor that I am doing my drawings on, open up maximized, rather than the smaller size that I prefer.

I can play around with the HydraVision settings at get the "child" windows to work how I want, and that is fine for a day. However when I come back on the following day, or if I need to reboot my system, all settings will change. If I try to get them back to how I had them working before the restart, I can't get them to work again.

I am really frustrated with this whole CCC program, and I am ready to send it back, get my money back, and buy an Nvidia card!

Here is the balance of my system info:

I am using an HP L1908wm as my primary monitor and is connected with a display port to DVI cable. My seconday monitor is a HANNSPREE HF289H (where I do my drawing in CAD) which is connected with a display port to HDMI cable.

This whole issue is really getting me upset with AMD. Can anyone help me in trying to get my child windows to stay on the application display, and keep them from resizing to the max size? I have played around with the dialog control in the Hydravision Desktop Manager without any success.

Thanks!

I wonder why you come to the gaming forum to complain about a firepro card you don't even use for gaming instead of contacting AMD.

Well, I'll tell you why, when I went to the AMD site and looked for help, I clicked on the support icon, then the next option that made sense said "Forums", I clicked there and that brought me to here! Tell me what other choice I have, and I'll go there.

You need AMD support...which is listed in the forum FAQ

Well, apparently, gamers have taken over AMD and "support", which means posting to a "gamers only club" where actual designers and developers (people who really use computers productively) are forced to read complaints from people who spend their limited time on Earth pretending to be action heros, toy soldiers, wizards and warlocks.

BTW, AMD has no hotline number posted on their support webpage. The support link sends us here, to this AMD-technician-forsaken realm of WOW-crackheads and would-be kill-for-the-sport-of-it virtual-fantasy-junkies.

Also, I'm going Intel-NVIDIA....all the way....at, least they give you actual support without forcing you to run the gauntlet of socially-deprived Call-of-Duty cultists.

And I am going to devote a good part of my professional relationship with computers to ridiculing AMD and their laissez-faire attitude towards their technologies and customers.

AMD...you get a major thumbs down.
