I have a AMD FireGL V3100 in a Dell Optiplex 745. I am running Windows 8.1.
I have two monitors hooked up to my PC via the AMD, one is a Acer and the other is a HP. Windows 8 seems to not be able to recognize my second monitor! I have installed all sorts of drivers from AMD and they either are not detected or won't install. Currently the Windows Basic Driver is installed according the the Device Manager. I did check in Windows Updates and there was nothing there either.
Someone suggested that I should try going into DM, right-click VGA (which isn't on my list), and click update. Then browse to the location of the driver I downloaded is and choose that. I tried doing this in Display Adaptors, but it said that Windows determined that the Basic Driver was the latest driver for it, it refused the driver I told it to update to.
I noticed that I have a Video Controller in Other Device that has no drivers installed. Is that my AMD? I tried to right-click > Update Driver Software, but it says "Windows was unable to install your device."
Dell's latest driver for video is a generic one that works with a bunch of different cards and that doesn't even work. It is a Vista driver, and I did try compatibility mode. No dice.
The funny thing is, the drivers I have tried worked perfectly in Windows 7 Pro.
Any advice you can give is well appreciated!
