Friends,

I need to do a direct DMA transfer of data from a firepro card over PCI-e Gen 2 to an FPGA; probably a Kintex-7 device. I've contacted NWLogic and PLDA and they both say it can't be done directly from the GPU card - it has to go through host memory first. That's fine for one project, but not for the other.

What's involved? What drivers are needed for the Firepro card, if any? NWL said that we can either use their drivers, or open source drivers. How is all that handled with the Firepro cards? Are there any drivers supplied by AMD that can support us in either Direct DMA from the GPU or though the host memory?

Many thanks!

You would need a SDI capable card like AMD FirePro V7900 SDI, which utilizes DMA.
