I want to install the proprietary drivers for my 4890 on Ubuntu 12.10 but get and error while installing the compiled deb files:

Can any one tell me whats wrong?

Are you sure your legacy card and its drivers are compatible with the kernel version and x server version you're trying to use? I'm not but also can't tell that they aren't. Just check the system requirements for the drivers and compare them with your system.

Also if the drivers are compatible, they're most likely in the repository, and that's where from you're supposed to install them.
