Hi amd linux support community,

I'm running Kubuntu 13.04 on a system with an HD 7750 installed (distribution's catalyst drivers). Attached to it is one permanent monitor and a projector regularly in standby mode.

When the projector is switched on, I would like to get it configured as a new separate X screen (:0.1) to run XBMC in fullscreen mode on it. This has two main advantages compared to the more common "one large desktop" / xinerama mode:

1) Video appears much smoother in fullscreen mode than in window mode maximized

2) Desktop environment is not affected (e.g. window placement or switching between different virtual desktops)

However, after the projector is switched on, it always shows a cloned view of the primary monitor. Only by restarting X, it is configured as a separate X screen.

Is it possible to hotplug a monitor and get it configured as a separate screen instantaniously?

Many thanks in advance!
