Hi, I have a linux box that runs an Intel 4500 as its main VGA. I've installed a 5750 for mining coins - unconnected to a monitor. I do not run X, or when I run it, it's on the intel IGP - and I have no desire to run it on 5750 as it degrades mining performance considerably.

Now the thing is, how can I get the temps of the 5750 from the console, without running X?

I run aticonfig --initial but without X all I'm getting for commands like

aticonfig --od-gettemperature
is

ERROR - X needs to be running to perform AMD Overdrive(TM) commands

So what can I do to overclock or see temps without X? Any ideas?

Nothing. The card is designed for gaming.

Surely, if the software can control or get values from the hardware under X, there is no reason why it shouldn't outside X. Besides the aticonfig tool is, after all, a console tool.
