I am trying to find the drivers for linux for the   AMD/ATI RV370 Radeon X300.  I found a download on the website that said it was the correct drivers but it did not work.  Where can I find the correct drivers?

It's a legacy card, no longer supported. There haven't been made any drivers for many years. The package you find on amd.com is for distros that were out when the card was still supported. Ancient ones that usually no longer work as repositories are shut off etc.

The only choice is sticking with open source drivers, going windows (xp) or upgrading the hardware.

Where can I find the last linux unbuntu driver made for that card before it was discontinued?

edit:  I should add that my over all goal it to play games like league of legends but I have been told the default drivers will not work.

Don't bother, I also tried playing around with similar stuff. My X1650 is newer than your card, still couldn't get it to work. I tried Ubuntu 8.x but the repositories no longer work. That means you can't even install stuff to be able to compile the kernel module.

I also tried Fedora 6 (probably). That partially worked, I was able to install the drivers, butdidn't get a decent picture on reboot. Might be fault of the old CRT though.

The question is: Would you really use an ancient kernel + distro just to be able to run proprietary drivers? I don't think it's worth it. You may be able to run a bit more games (Doom 3 specifically) but the card doesn't have any power to run it anyway. Other random linux games (like Chromium BSU) work fine on open source drivers. Even HL1/CS is playable.

It's built into the linux kernel. You just install any recent distro and you're already using the open source driver.
