PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have installed a 64 bit fedora 20 on my laptop...

I have tried to install the latest driver update present on the amd website (amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-legacy-linux-x86.x86_64.run for HD 3400 series)...but it miserably fails. If I try to install any other more recent release of the driver I get a failure saying that the driver is not for my hardware.

Here is the error message:

Check if system has the tools required for installation.
Uninstalling any previously installed drivers.

Did you downgrade half the system?

Description:
Automated installer and Display Drivers for Xorg 6.9 to Xserver 1.12 and Kernel version up to 3.4

Recent distros which were updated after the driver release are not supported. Your best bet is sticking to open source drivers or using something older (like Fedora 15 or something...).

The problem is to be able to use HDMI at its best...for example cloning the screen when connecting to TV through HDMI...I cannot see a way to do that using the native driver...

Can you suggest me something else?

Because the driver is only compatible with old X and old kernel. If you don't downgrade (or use old distros), you can't use it. It's legacy, abandoned.
