Except that the current legacy driver isn't compatible with any up-to-date Linux distro. And the open source driver is horrifyingly slow, even the newest Mesa 10.1 version and kernel version 3.13. While I could play Portal 2 beautifully smooth on Ubuntu 12.04 with Legacy Catalyst 13.1, it's almost unplayable with the open source driver on Ubuntu 14.04. Frame rate is stutteringly low, even with the lowest Portal 2 video settings, and mouse response is a full second behind. This is unacceptable and AMD really needs to get their butts in gear and update their legacy driver. They did for Windows, why not for us?! Not cool, AMD!
