I just got the 295x2, and tried the 14.20 (latest beta) and 14.6

first i cannot install the drivers as it says "no supported adapters detected". So i get an older 5450 card and use it to install the drivers. X loads fine with the 5450.

Now i put the 295x2 (same slot as the 5450) and X doesnot load. i think the following are the related error messages

(WW) Falling back to old probe method for fglrx

(II) Loading PCS database from /etc/ati/amdpcsdb /etc/ati/amdpcsdb.default

(EE) No devices detected.

I am running debian testing with kernel 3.13.11

I would appreciate if someone could tell me what linux driver would work with the 295x2

Found the issue to be a hardware issue. The water cooler was not powered and that caused the card to go bonkers. I was ssh'ing in so i didn't notice.

The water cooler wire was not connected to the hardware. I was able to extract the wire from the hood (shown below). I opened the hood and connected it. Wish it was done from the factory itself as it would have saved me some time.

Before doing it, i called ASUS support. The tech was not sure if the water cooler should be always on or not! isgust; BTW it should always spin.

I wish a 1500$ card had better QA and better support.

shoddy hardware
