I just upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows XP on my 6 year old computer. but my graphics card a, 256gb PCIe x16 ATI RadeonX1300 Pro, is not supported by Windows 8.  My screen is set to a lower resolution than I want.  I belive I either need to go back to XP or find a graphics card that will work in my machine and has a Windows 8 driver available.  I use my computer for work, AutoCad, and various office programs with little to no gaming.

I'm using a:  OptiPlex 740 Desktop, AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+ (2.6GHz, 1MBX2)

Memory: 4gb DDR2 Non-Ecc SDRAM 667MHz

Two Monitors: one Dell 24inch UltraSharp 2401FPW Widescreen and a HP Pavilion f1903

Power supply: 280W

Does anyone know of a card that will work in my machine running Windows 8?

Is there a web site that will review my current setup and advise which graphics cards will work for me?

Suggesting a GPU isn't hard, but your PSU is a problem, if you wish to upgrade, that PSU has to be replaced as well. I would recommend something like HD5770 / HD6770, anything more powerful and the cpu will get bottlenecked for sure.. and the psu, a Corsair unit between 450-550w should do. And that is if you MUST upgrade, it may be better to build a whole new machine for the next 6 years
