Would it fit? Absolutly, would that cheap dell made OEM power supply work with it? Hell no.

If you are going to drop 300$ on a 7970, why not spend 60 more and a decent corsair unit that would power it?

But fear not great news the dell you have use's a standard power supply. So go ahead and spend the money to get a good unit to go with your nice 7970. Or R9 280X (its the same card)

I believe XPS 7100 has a basic 460 watt PSU and that is not going to cut it. What ever you do to upgrade your graphics will require a better PSU. If you are thinking 7970 you will need 650 to 750 watt PSU to be safe.
