I have an HP Pavilion notebook which currently has an AMD A4-5000 CPU running at 1.5 GHz.

Is it possible for me to upgrade this CPU/APU to, for example, the AMD A6-5200 or an even faster processor?  If so, what else would I have to replace?  Sorry, I am a complete noob when it comes to replacing/upgrading CPUs - I've upgraded RAM, drives, soundcards, graphic cards and CPUs but mostly in desktop PCs.  What are my upgrade options for this notebook?  I've tried to ask HP but get a not so polite Nope, can't do it LOL However, I'm not one to give up so easily LOL

I believe HP's usually solder down their chips, so it would be impossible to replace it. Then you would need better cooling to cool the new cpu with a higher TDP, new power supply and probably write your own bios as well, as the existing one only supports the existing cpu. This is why desktops still exist, so users can change parts at will.
