Current setup:

AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 840 Processor

Asus radeon HD7770 Graphic card

AM3 socket asus mainboard with enough space to fit crossfire hd7770

600W power supply

2x4gb kingston ddr3 ram

I want to upgrade my system, but i do not know what to do first.

My concerns are as follows:

I am thinking about getting another hd7770 and crossfire it with my old one or get a new r9 270x. Which option is better?

Is my CPU still strong enough to support graphic power like this or should i upgrade my CPU before getting a new graphic card?

If you think that my CPU needs to be replaced first, what happens if i place an AM3+ socket CPU on my AM3 socket? Do i need a new motherboard too?

Thanks in advance,

Wiegaz

Couple more specifics are needed, namely motherboard make and model, and PSU make and model, but we also need a list of the games you play and what resolutions you play them at.

-------------------------
AMD FX-8350 w/ Corsair H105, ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Gen3/R2, 8GiB G.SKILL DDR3-2133, XFX HD 7970, 512GB Vertex 4, 256GB Vector, 240GB Agility 3, Creative X-Fi Titanium w/ Creative Gigaworks S750, SeaSonic X750, Corsair C70, HP ZR2440w, Win 7 Ultimate x64

PSU is  LC Power lc6650gp3 V2.3 650W

Mainboard is either some AM3 socket asrock that is not in reach for further investigation right now or my currently on my second pc in use (which i am at) gigabyte P41T-D3.

Asrock mainboard has 2 PCIe x16 slots and supports crossfire, but is 3 years old at least.

I play a lot of games, mostly CS:GO, Dirt 3, Anno 2070, wildstar and Titanfall at 1680x1050.

Well, you're going to need a new power supply, something by a reputable manufacturer (SeaSonic or Enermax, or the brands they manufacturer for which include Corsair, XFX, Sapphire, and PC Power & Cooling.) After that then I would recommend a R9 280X, which is a little overkill for 1680x1050, but will still have no problem at 1920x1080 when you decide to upgrade.
