I purchased this machine in Sep 12, and now wish too upgrade what I can to achieve best perfromance on the current games on the market.

I would be greatful for any help offered.

 AMD 4.0 bulldozer FX-4100, 8GB DDR3 RAM, ATI 5450 1GB HDMI VGA CARD

You should upgrade your video card. 5450  is weak for gaming.

What power supply do you have?

Your video card should be the only thing you have to upgrade to play games, assuming your PSU is up to the task and your case is large enough. What is its make and model?

Get the R9 270X or the R9 280X, and make sure you have a powerful enough PSU to accompany that.
